Tranceformers: Shamans of the 21st Century ReviewI have bought a load of books on Amazon, and one of the things i look for when im buying a book is it's user comments.
In this case i think all of them where rating the book for 5 stars and raved about the book, so i bought it since i was interested in the subject.
Now, i have read a few others in the field so i have a few to compare with...
The big problem i have with the book is the constant use of:
"I know the truth"
"what has surfaced as an undeniable truth"
And especially when referencing other authors (must be well over a 100 of references):
"As the author has proven" or
"The truth has been found by this author"
For any person who has not learnt to question information given to him, this book may seem like a bible in this subject.
Everywhere you look, page after page, "the truth" is presented, in areas which are so far out they are even hard to discuss properly.
I read a lot of books with ideas and theories that are just out of this world, and i'm fine with it.
Because most of those authors present those ideas and theories as such and not as facts or truths.
If you are interested in the subjects of this book there are a lot of gems that might stir your interests however.
But keep your "question the information" hat on, or you're in for a ride...
And i'm still puzzled how the book could have so many reviews with 5 stars...Tranceformers: Shamans of the 21st Century Overview

The Coming Epiphany ReviewI highly recommend this book to anyone. The depth of scriptural understanding contained in this book has truly helped me to see how many of the passages in scripture all tie together. After reading the book, you'll not only have a better understanding of prophecy, but you'll also learn some valuable tools as to how to study and let the Bible interpret the Bible.
Beyond all the technical aspects involving scripture, it's simply interesting and if you are hungry for spiritual truth, you will devour this book! The Coming Epiphany Overview

2012, the Bible, and the End of the World ReviewOne senses the fear building. "The end is near!" A mental image of the little bearded man in a long robe holding a placard affixed to a wooden stake with those words in broad red letters comes to mind. Only it isn't a cartoon we are facing, but the end of the world as we've known it. Planet earth is about to--because of powerful astral alignment dynamics--most likely suffer instant pole reversals, thus horrific tectonic plate shifts. This will cause the catastrophic end for most, perhaps all, human life. This is the fear of proponents of ancient Mayan Calendar predictions.

The year 2012 is but some twenty-seven months away, and the hype is on. December 21, at 11: 11 pm Universal Time of that year will...well, we don't really know. But, it will--according to pundits from scientists, astrologers, and religionists to new agers, fiction writers, and documentarians--be very bad indeed for inhabitants of the earth.

My favorite writer in the Bible prophecy genre has tackled the hoopla surrounding the 2012 specter and, with his always calming perspective based thoroughly on what the Bible has to say, makes unmistakably clear and understandable the truth regarding the Mayan Calendar prophecy. Dr. Mark Hitchcock, in 192 pages, gets to the heart of the doomsday prediction presented by shamans who have been dead for centuries. In this masterful work, while other authors of voluminous tomes on the 2012 matters consider writing second, even third volumes, Hitchcock points with precision in this tightly crafted book to where the reader should devote concentration about 2012.

The author points out the explosion of information about the subject of 2012. He writes that 187 books appeared when he searched Amazon on the topic. He indicates that when he Googled "2012," there were almost 60,000 hits. He writes that new books are appearing on the Internet and in bookstores almost every month.

Hitchcock writes:

So, why another book? What could I possibly say that has not already been said? Perhaps the best way to answer this question is to point to the title of the book. As the title suggests, my focus is to examine the 2012 phenomenon from a biblical perspective, primarily from the vantage point of end time Bible prophecy....While many other 2012 books mention the Bible or Bible codes, they don't look at 2012 through the lens of Scripture; rather, they look at Scripture through the lens of 2012. They pick and choose selected verses from the Bible, especially from the Book of Revelation, to support their vision of what the future holds....This book is written with one purpose in mind: to examine and expose the 2012 deadline in light of Bible prophecy and present what I believe the Bible reveals about the end of the age.

I agree with the author. My own recent interview for The Nostradamus Effect documentary on the History Channel will doubtless be cut and shaped to point to how Bible prophecy such as that involving the rapture (the primary subject about which they quizzed me) might contribute to giving credence to the "prophecies" of Nostradamus, and to the Mayan 2012 prediction. I've never known a secular documentary to use the Bible in checking for truth of the prophecies that are non-biblical. The Bible, in such cases, is used in such a way as to presume its support for those extra-biblical foretellings. Always they look at Scripture through the lens of whatever non-biblical prophecy they are presenting.

Mark Hitchcock, in dynamic fashion--yet with his trademark graceful use of reason tempered by a profound understanding of God's prophetic Word--shines the spotlight of truth on the ominous things of the 2012 prophecy. To get a quick, thorough, and easy-to-read, Bible-based understanding of what the growing 2012 hysteria is all about, this is the only book you need.

2012: The Bible and the End of the World is the book on the 2012 matter I can without reservation recommend to best bring you, the reader, understanding of what the future holds.

Catastrophobia: The Truth Behind Earth Changes in the Coming Age of Light ReviewBarbara Hand Clow is a noted astrologer, shaman, teacher, theologian and trained anthropologist, a tireless researcher, and the author of a number of important and best-selling books including "Pleiadian Agenda" and "Chiron: Rainbow Bridge Between the Inner and Outer Planets." In "Catastrophobia: The Truth Behind Earth Changes in the Coming Age of Light" she once again reaches beyond the consensus to shed new light and original thinking on the events, processes and anxieties that humans deal with on a daily basis.
The pervasive fear of an impending catastrophe is the motivating force, in Ms. Clow's postulation, behind and beneath all of the obsessions having to do with the structure of contemporary earthly civilization: work, human relationships, the economy, the environment and the state, and the search for healing of these structures and ourselves. But whence this anxiety? Why now, and indeed at periodic intervals over the course of recorded history, have we feared a coming catastrophe, a tragedy of such proportions as to snuff out the Earth and all that lives on it?
In this monumental work, Ms. Clow examines legendary cataclysms and delineates how - contrary to prevailing prophecies of dark and deadly times to come - we are truly on the cusp of an era of incredible creative and spiritual growth. The very recent discovery of the remains of ancient villages buried beneath the Black Sea is but the latest in the accumulation of mounting evidence that many of the "mythic" catastrophes of history - the fall of Atlantis, the Biblical flood - were historic events. Ms. Clow ably demonstrates how a series of cataclysmic disasters resulting from a disturbance in the Earth's crust some 11,500 years ago (itself likely caused at least in part by a stellar supernova in the nearby Vela system) "rocked the world" and left humankind's collective psyche deeply scarred and ineradicably traumatized. We are, in her view, "a wounded species," and the unprocessed, until-now indescribable fear passed from generation to generation is responsible for the constant and widespread expectation of a world-ending apocalypse, seen in such instances as the Y2K event to the much-reported end of the Mayan calendar in 2012.
"Catastrophobia" also uncovers in detail the insidious global forces - economic, political and religious - that have used these collective fears to control and manipulate humanity for countless centuries. But Ms. Clow's book offers more than a glimmer of hope. It is the work of an informed, reasonable and persuasive optimist. In the author's view, we are in the midst of a shift in the Earth's 26,000 year precessional cycle, and there is every indication that the changes in consciousness seen over the past forty years are the beginnings of a collective healing from these deep fears from the primeval past, heralding a time to come of great spiritual evolution.
Ms. Clow's monumental research effort in writing this insightful and important book and the scientific efforts underlying that research it are particularly praiseworthy. The reader is advised, for a taste of the foregoing and as a preface to "Catastrophobia," to consult the article by G.R. Brackenridge in Icarus (16:81-93) entitled "Terrestrial Paleoenvironmental Effects of a Late Quarternary Age Supernova."
Every serious student of history (both academic and alternative) has every reason to own this important, incisive and pacesetting volume. It will appeal also to the astrologer and the eschatologist, as well as the scientist willing to approach Ms. Clow's work with an open mind.Catastrophobia: The Truth Behind Earth Changes in the Coming Age of Light Overview

The Mayan Calendar and the Transformation of Consciousness ReviewReview rewritten on 09-APR-2009
Mr. Callemans books are thoughtful and include original ideas. It would take your finding a copy of The Mayan Factor from Joe (aka Jose) Arguelles of 1987 to realize that Mr. Calleman has expanded those concepts and put them in a much more understandable framework (with somewhat less hyperbole).
Apart from John Major Jenkens and Barbara Tedlock most other sources on the Mayan calendar are either academically dry or mainly fantasy. This book in particular provides a road map for the conscious evolution of humanity over the next few years. This evolution is guided, in part, by energetic eminations from the center of the Milky Way. The Mayans call this source the HUnab Ku. This concept is clearly Arguellian,
The book does need to be read carefully and with meditative reflection. There is much here that you will not get if you approach just with the rational mind. This book is a serious treatise of many concepts and not all of them are Mayan. It requires you to approach it as a new human being to be able to understand what it is saying
Calleman provides a general timeline for this period in the years leading up to 2012. He appears to have been correct about energy moving from the West/USA to the East/Asia. His writings on Mayan Fifth night during 2008 and it's portend for the world economy appear to have been an accurate prediction. However, as things worsened in 2009 I began to wonder whether Calleman's correlation of the end date of the Mayan Calendar at Oct 2011 was off by a year and that Dec 21 2012 was indeed the authentic end date.
After spending time in April 2009 reading the 1999-2001 exchanges between Calleman and John Major Jenkins I am leaning more towards the standard 2012 interpretation for many reasons. When I asked Calleman in 2007 about how he arrived at the end date of Oct 28 2011 he referred me to his first book on the Mayan Calendar. The evidence and argument in that book for his end date is brief, sketchy, and unconvincing. You can check out the posts at the alignment 2012 website of JMJ for more information on why the Calleman correlation does not hold water.
Calleman's own synthesis of a world view (and galactic view) containing Mayan elements has merit. But the various elements presented in the book were not clearly distinguished and delineated for the reader as Mayan versus Calleman. You have to be very careful reading his material to know what is Mayan and what is Calleman.
If you have an interest in the Mayan Calendar and 2012 AND you are a very observant reader with some metaphysical leanings there is much you can glean from this book.

Update on 27-FEB-2011
Looking back on this book five years later, I can say this book continues to grow as an enigma. On the one hand Carl has gotten himself into a corner by going head-long against any traditional or alternative Mayanists by sticking to his 'end' date of Oct 28 2011 and provided no proof for his date correlation that can be verified. You can read interesting exchanges between Carl and John Major Jenkins (JMJ). Carl, in his later book, The Purposeful Universe: How Quantum Theory and Mayan Cosmology Explain the Origin and Evolution of Life changes his prophetic model again away from this book to something else (echanging 20 for 18 in the last number period). Johan Normark does a pretty conclusive job of showing how Carl has left himself way out with no basis in Mayan historical source at all and that the latest number schema from Carl can't even any longer contain the full long count timeline.
Picking up this book in the past few days I am struck by something that didn't stand out before. This book is very poorly organized. For example, if you wanted to read about the dreaded 'Fifth Night' in Carl's invented (non-mayan) 13 periods (7 days/6 nights) you would have to jump around to a few places. If you read this book straight through you can get what he is saying. But if you are going back into the book looking to drill down into certain points you will be frustrated because of the poor organization of the book.
And now for the crux of the enigma of this book. This book, coincidentally or not, was one of the few sources to clearly predict the financial meltdown in the West/US in 2008 (clearly within the 5th night). How could someone, if they had jury-rigged the Mayan Calendrics, have more than a few 'hits' in terms of correspondences defined in their material is the question. And if Carls projection holds for his last Tzolkin 260 day round which ends on October 28, 2011, then the period of August 10-30 is also a fractal resonance for the fifth night as well. If you look for 'The Calleman Matrix' on the Internet you can find copies of the chart from this version of the book. Interestingly his theoretical last 260 day round before Oct 28 2011 started on Feb 11 2011, a revolutionary period, also the day that Mubarak was ousted from the Egyptian presidency.
But I suppose only by January 1st 2013 will we really know whether Carl and/or the other 2012ers were onto something. If not then maybe our collective apocalyptic neurosis will latch onto another date for some other reason.

2012: A Clarion Call: Your Soul's Purpose in Conscious Evolution (Worldshift Books) ReviewReview for Amazon:
What could be worse than seeing our world heading for destruction, and feeling that there is no hope for change?
Reading 2012 A Clarion Call: Your Soul's Purpose in Conscious Evolution by Nicolya Christi, I felt like I had been conscripted (but voluntarily!) into a magnificent army of humans who are uniting to transform our world--even though some of us are living on opposite ends of the world and may never even know each other's names.
I have known that there were many people involved in the work of moving beyond the conditioned ego-self, but since reading Christi's book I feel myself to be a vital part of the change that evolution is asking humanity to make--the great sacrifice of that lesser, survival-based self for the truer "enlightened" Being that often lies hidden, and overlooked, within us.
This is not an easy shift to make, but Christi's description of the process and her beautiful letter to the dying ego, clearly captures the essence of the journey and offers both encouragement and tools to assist us on our way.
Hers is a voice that pierces right through the heart of our deepest hopelessness, feelings of inadequacy and our often paralyzing fear of change-- to let us know that there is no time to waste and that each one of us is needed here and now in response to our current crisis. (And the fact that she shares her own struggles with, and triumphs over, self-doubt empowers us to move past our own self-limiting and self-sabotaging thoughts and behaviors to honor whatever contribution we feel led to make.)
Most importantly, Christi implores us to expose, confront and ultimately transcend the addiction to suffering which fuels the ego and keeps us in its grip. In my experience, until I could move beyond my fear of happiness/proclivity to pain, I spent my time recycling old, negative patterns. It is imperative to see how we actually believe that suffering protects us, before we can "release" ourselves into our inherently joyful and fun-loving Selves.
As the introduction to her book indicates: "This book offers you a promise that in knowing and aligning with your unique role as we approach 2012, you will never have felt more alive, purposeful or connected with yourself...."
I have personally felt "held" in that "aliveness" she speaks of since receiving the "Clarion Call" and realize that I had not understood the full extent of the ego's loneliness and isolation until I had felt the sense of engagement and sense of purpose that I now feel.
I implore you to read this amazing and inspired work, and allow it to inspire you to make a difference for yourself, your loved ones and our world.
